the tax treatment for window shades in a home office? Are they a bus. expense or an improvement to depreciate

I don’t know whether I can write off this $3500 cost as a business expense or if I have to depreciate it over 20? years. Room is used exclusively as home office; I take office in home deduction

   You spent $3,500 on window shades? For a single room?

   I would think you could right it off as a bad investment! or perhaps a Theft/Casualty loss as you certainly got ripped off!
